9-15-21 Transportation Update

We are currently experiencing a serious bus driver shortage in Barrington, along with many communities in the State and across the country. There will be times when we will be without a bus driver and there will not be a spare driver available. In these cases, students will need to be temporarily reassigned to other buses for the day so they can be transported to and from school. We understand that this is not an ideal situation, especially when compounded with COVID restrictions. We will, however, continue to take every precaution to maintain health and safety guidelines on our buses.

An annual issue that results from students returning to schools is that one can expect temporary delays in students arriving to school and home. Please know that in the first few weeks of school your children will not be considered late in those cases and will not be marked as such.

We are still in the process of finalizing all bus routes as we transition back to school. Once all routes have been finalized they will be published on the District’s Transportation website.

The safety of our students continues to be our number one priority. We are working daily to address all bus stop and safety concerns and submissions to ensure the safety of our students as they travel to and from school. We hope to resolve many concerns as soon as this week. If you have any safety concerns related to transportation we encourage you to complete our Bus Stop Safety Request Form which can be found here. Please understand that some changes may not be able to be immediately made due to the bus driver shortage mentioned above. Further changes and adjustments may be made as soon as this situation is resolved.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while we continue to work through these challenges.
