road work ahead

Residents and drivers in Barrington should be aware of a planned detour on County Road near the Wampanoag Trail for the months of May and June 2025 . The detour is needed to make essential upgrades to the area, including installing catch basins, adding sidewalks, and repaving the road.

Daytime work will occur through the end of May, Monday through Friday between approximately 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Areas around the work zone will be completely detoured while crews operate on the even-numbered side of the road. Nighttime paving operations are expected to begin in June, Sunday through Thursday between approximately 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. During nighttime paving, there will be single-lane detours, with traffic directed accordingly.

Advance signage will be placed to notify drivers and police details will be stationed to manage traffic and ensure safety, following a model previously used near Barrington Middle School. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, especially during school hours, and exercise caution when traveling near the construction zone.
