superintendent update september 6

Dear Families, Students, and Educators,

I am writing to inform you of a change in our school schedule for tomorrow, September 7th, due to an extreme heat warning.

After conducting a thorough assessment of our school buildings this evening and considering the forecasted record-breaking heat, it has become clear that the combination of high temperatures and the age of our facilities could create unsafe conditions for our students and staff. For example, the average temperature at Barrington High School at 7:00 PM tonight was 85 degrees, with some rooms reaching 88 degrees.

In the interest of the safety and well-being of our learning community, I have decided to shorten the school day tomorrow. This decision also applies to Barrington Middle School, despite the building being temperature-controlled. Unfortunately, the restrictions of our transportation system necessitate this adjustment.

After-school bus transportation will be provided at early dismissal for all students who ride the bus on typical school days. There will be no AM/PM or full-day preschool tomorrow.

To ensure that our students are well cared for, students ordering school lunch tomorrow will receive a bagged lunch before dismissal. Please note the dismissal times for each school in the table below:
