Good afternoon,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! Today was a busy and exciting day for our district. The hallways and classrooms in each of our schools buzzed all day with energy and excitement for the year ahead.
With academics, athletics, and many extracurricular activities already in action, we are off to a great start. Unfortunately, this afternoon, an incident with an elementary bus run significantly impacted after-school transportation and delayed bus stop arrival times for a group of our students.
Following the incident, we have been in contact with Ocean State Transit, the bus company that provides transportation for Barrington Public Schools, to ensure that a situation like this does not happen again in our district.
Many of our BPS families depend on our buses to get safely to and from school on time. The extent of today’s transportation delay is an outlier, but please remember that you can expect delays during the first several weeks of school while bus drivers acclimate to their new schedules. Scheduled pick-up and drop-off times are only estimated times and may vary as students are added to or deleted from bus routes during the course of the school year.
We look forward to a successful and fulfilling school year and will continue working hard to make every day in Barrington Public Schools great for our families, students, and educators.
