       Week Of: January 9, 2023

Important Info:

  • Do you know someone looking for part time or full time work? Barrington schools continue to look for lunch monitors, recess monitors, daily substitute teachers and building interns.  If you are interested, or know someone who is, please visit schoolspring.com. to apply.

  • Our art teacher, Ms. Amy Gusetti, will be taking a leave for the remainder of the school year. If you have any immediate needs or questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I will keep you all updated once a teacher has been named for the remainder of the school year.

  • It would be helpful to be sure students have their coats on before the car stops at morning drop off. This is helpful to keep the flow of traffic moving on Nayatt Road.

  • Please be sure not to send glass bottles or containers into school with students. There have been a couple of them dropped and broken and we want to be sure students are not hurt.

This Week:

  • Friday, January 13th - School Spirit “Winter Wonderland Day!”

Upcoming Events:

  • Recess Rocks Training

You’re invited:

Barrington schools participate in Recess Rocks. The organization provides recess workshops for our staff. We’re excited to share that we have scheduled a workshop for our BPS K-5 recess volunteers, and it’s going to be fun! There are only 40 spots available; so if it works for your schedule, please register right away. The workshop is not required but encouraged for volunteers who enjoy supervising recess.

Please join us:

Recess Rocks Workshop for BPS Recess Volunteers and Recess Staff

Barrington Middle School, Student Union/Cafeteria

From Recess Rocks:

The Power of Play workshop introduces the importance of play for child development and lays the foundation for creating a safe, healthy, and respectful environment for youth. During this workshop, we give you the tools to use play intentionally to support students’ social and emotional learning. Participants walk away understanding how to select and initiate games that support student

engagement, physical activity, and positive recess culture.

Other Information:

  • The Lunar New Year/Chinese New Year 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. The start of the New Year is January 22nd.

    • Is the Lunar New Year same as Chinese New Year?

    • Across Asia and the Asian diaspora, Lunar New Year, also commonly known as Chinese New Year, is the most widely celebrated and most important holiday. It marks the start of a new year based on the lunar calendar, a dating system that's based on the monthly cycle of the moon's phases. The term 'Lunar New Year' is increasingly used to refer to festivals in other countries that take place at the same time and with many of the same traditions as in China.

From the PTO:

  • The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25th at 6:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
