From the Desk of Nurse Collins:

  • Several common seasonal allergy symptoms are also symptoms of COVID-19, such as cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, congestion, runny nose

  • Please keep your child home from school if they are symptomatic, even if they have a history of seasonal allergies

  • Report symptoms to the school nurse and get tested for COVID-19

  • Approve Revised School Calendar: The revised schedule which is based mostly on the state calendar with some days specific to Barrington was approved. 2021-2022 Revised School Calendar

  • Mask Wearing Required in Schools and At School Events

  • Given the CDC update regarding fully vaccinated individuals no longer having to wear masks, Governor McKee announced that he applied the no mask mandate to Rhode Island beginning Tuesday, May 18. However, this mandate does not apply to schools or school events. I have attached the CDC guidance for your information.  Image 2 below lists the places where masks must continue to be worn.   • Face Coverings A Message From The RIDOH

  • In alignment with the CDC recommendation, schools must continue to use the COVID-19 prevention strategies outlined in the current version of CDC’s Operational Strategy for K-12 Schools for at least the remainder of the 2020-2021 academic 

  • school year.

 

Nayatt School Improvement Updates:

  • This week the Nayatt Teachers met to review the recommendations of the School Improvement Team and Special Education Task Force related to communication with families, family engagement, and inclusivity.

Teaching and Learning:

 

 

  • This week the second grade students wrote their reflections from their visit with Farmer Dane, the beekeeper, as part of their pollinators unit.

  • Mrs. Laucella and Mrs. Baxter are featured on the front lawn.  

  • Mrs Kwolek shared her student reflections on what they learned about bees.

  • We are so thankful for our new umbrellas from the district to compliment our outdoor learning spaces.

 

Chromebook Care Reminder:

  • Be sure to charge your child’s chromebook each night before sending it to school.

  • Some chromebooks are coming back broken, please provide a cover or case.
