Fun Friday: It's Festive Flair Day! This Friday, we’re kicking off the holiday season with a Fun Friday like no other! Students are invited to wear their most festive flair—whether it's an ugly sweater, tinsel, or anything that shows off their holiday spirit. Let’s make this a day full of joy, laughter, and some seriously fun outfits!
Third Grade Chorus Performance: Our Third Grade Chorus will perform for parents on December 18, 2025, at 1:45. The concert invitation may be found here. The doors will open at 1:35. If you are coming to the concert and will be changing the way your child goes home for tomorrow, you MUST send a note indicating the change. Students will be dismissed to you at dismissal time (just like we do for Town Meeting.)
PTO P-Bruins Game: The PTO will be at an upcoming Providence Bruins game. On Sunday, January 11, 2026, you can join your Sowams friends for an afternoon of hockey. When you purchase your tickets, they will all be within the same area. The link to purchase tickets may be found here.
Progress Reports: Your child’s first trimester progress report will be available on December 19, 2025. You will find it in Aspen. If you do not know your username and password, you will need to email aspenhelp@barringtonschools.org to have everything reset. We are not able to do this from the school and we do not have access to usernames and passwords for parents.
Grades 2 and 3 PTO/Arts Alive Play: Registration opens in January about the second and third grade play program. This year, the play will be Finding Nemo, Jr. Information about audition and rehearsal dates, performance date and times, and registration may be found here.
School Construction Community Forum: On January 12, 2026, at 6:00 in the evening, there will be a community forum regarding the upcoming construction project at Sowams. This is an in-person meeting at our school. Information may be found here.
Winter Break: We do have school next Monday and Tuesday. Winter break will begin on December 24, 2025. We return to school on January 5, 2026.
PTO Meeting: We have a PTO meeting on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 7:00 in the evening. It is a virtual meeting. A link will be sent home on the day of the meeting.
Morning Drop Off: As a reminder, your child can get out of the vehicle any place where there is a sidewalk in our driveway. Your child does not need to be dropped off right in front of the door of the school. If one person doesn’t follow this, the traffic backs up onto Sowams Rd. If everyone follows this, the traffic will move much more quickly and smoothly.
There are a lot of holidays occurring this time of year. On behalf of all of us at Sowams, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Boxing Day, and Happy New Year (apologies if I have missed any).
