Dear Barrington Families,

The 2023-2024 school year is quickly approaching and we are excited to welcome new kindergarten students to our learning communities this fall! 

If your child will turn 5 years old on or before September 1 and you wish to enroll them in Barrington Public Schools for their kindergarten year, registration is the first step. 

To register for kindergarten, please follow these steps:

1. Review enrollment requirements. To enroll in kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year, your child must be 5 years old by September 1, 2023, and reside in Barrington.

2. Complete registration through the BPS Aspen portal. If you are new to the District, you will need to create an Aspen parent portal account to enroll your child. Here are detailed instructions for creating an Aspen account.

3. Upload health and residency forms to Aspen. All required documentation, including immunization, student health history, and proof of residency, must be completed and uploaded to the Documents tab in Aspen. If applicable, records authorization and release of special education records requests can also be completed and uploaded at this time.

Kindergarten screening is the next step in the enrollment process. Screening helps us ensure that our classroom placement best meets your child’s needs. Kindergarten screening is required of all incoming students and must be completed before the beginning of the school year. Please select a screening time from the list below and sign up using your child’s school link.

Kindergarten screening will take place on the following dates:

• Nayatt School Screening Dates: July 26 and August 1

  • Nayatt Summer 2023 Kindergarten Assessment Communication

• Primrose Hill School Screening dates: July 25-26, August 7, 8, 10 and 11

  • Primrose Summer 2023 Kindergarten Assessment Communication

• Sowams School Screening Dates: August 1 and August 2 

  • Sowams School 2023 Kindergarten Assessment Communication

For assistance with the kindergarten registration process, please contact Kim Wind at windk@barringtonschools.org. If you are unable to attend one of the kindergarten screening sessions, please contact the school principal to find an alternative.
