PHS Celebrates "A Day Without Hate"

Dear Primrose Families,

Our students started their day with an assembly with MaxMan from the RI Recycling Center and it was such a pleasure to see how much they know and understand about reducing, reusing and recycling. Be sure to ask them about this interactive assembly and the habits they have for keeping our community and Earth clean.

On  a similar focus, our Green Squad had their clothing drive today as you know. If you have recently done some spring cleaning or closet purging, please bring your items to donate to the boxes at the front of the school. Just a reminder to place clothing in the boxes, without bags. Students on our Green Squad will be helping to sort and donate these items.

Staff and students alike wore their white today in honor of “A Day Without Hate” and made some beautiful posters-some last night at the poster party at BMS and others with their classmates here at Primrose. I included photos of some of their beautiful work below. Special thanks to the high school students on the Chain Reaction Club for making this a districtwide focus.

We are looking forward to celebrating this wonderful staff all next week with the support of our PTO and families. On Monday we are hoping to have our students bring in a note or a drawing for their teacher or special staff member to thank them for all they do. If you would also like to send in a flower or two, they will be creating class bouquets for the teachers. We also planned a spirit day on Wednesday for our students to Dress for Success. Students are invited to dress like a favorite teacher or educator. Traditionally this has been a fun spirit day to see how our students “see us.”

Dinner plans on Saturday? If you’d rather not cook or do the dishes, don’t forget, our PTO has arranged for a Chipotle fundraiser this weekend. Details below on the flier. It’s a nice and easy way to support our PTO and the events they offer our school.

There are many events planned and in the works for our school and within the community. Please be sure to scroll all they way through and mark your calendars for these. As details are finalized for our own end of year events, we will share dates and details with you.

Educationally yours,

Coleen Smith

Primrose Hill Family Fun & Arts Night - May 19

Join us for Family Fun & Arts Night on Friday, May 19, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. This is a great event for the whole family to check out your kids' artwork, enjoy outdoor games, and have some delicious food!

This fun event is a fundraiser to support our incredible teachers and the work in our schools through the Primrose Hill PTO. You can purchase bracelets to participate in games for $10 each and additional donations are appreciated.

A few notes:

  • We have a limited number of free bracelets available, please speak to Mrs. Smith if this is helpful to your family.

  • Please help us volunteer! Sign-up for a timeslot to help us with activities, set-up, or clean-up. It takes a lot of hands to pull off an event for our entire school community.

  • Do you know a vendor looking to share information about programs for students? We're looking for event sponsors from $100-$300, please see the flyer for details
