What is New at BMS!

(note: the following information is new)

Attention 8th Grade Families:

On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, we will be hosting a meeting for all 8th-grade families (parents/guardians) to discuss our annual end of the year 8th Grade Field Trip. At this meeting, our hope is to share with our families a few options and the cost implications of each one of those options. If your child would like to attend the end-of-year field trip, it is important for a family member to attend this very important meeting as we will be seeking feedback from families on a direction to pursue.

Art Postcard Fundraiser:

Students in art classes have created beautiful  "All About RI" postcards.  Any monies raised will go toward sponsoring an artist to visit BMS!  Postcards are only $10 for a pack of 8.  They make great gifts!  Checks may be made out to “BMS” and postcards will be delivered to your student or are available in the BMS office for purchase as well.

Love cool weather walking?  Volunteer at BMS!:

An adult with a current BCI is wanted to volunteer to lead a weekly winter walking club. Winter is a perfect time to get out in nature, meet some amazing students, and get some fresh air and exercise. The group would meet at 3:15pm at BMS and take a 30-55 minute walk along various routes throughout the area. Let us know what day of the week would work best for you!  Email texeiraj@barringtonschools.org if you are available.

Principal Luncheon:

Join Dr. Anderson on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 12:00 pm for a principal luncheon.  The goal of the luncheon is to connect with families, discuss BMS-related topics, and to answer any questions families may have.  No pre-registration necessary.

BMS Yearbook - 8th Grade Baby Pictures:

It’s tradition!  See how much the 8th graders have grown! Each year we have pages in the yearbook dedicated to 8th grade baby/toddler pictures and it’s always fun to see how far they’ve come.  Please complete this form and upload your child's baby/toddler photo directly. To avoid confusion, please ensure only one photo is uploaded per student.  Deadline is Thursday, December 1, 2022.

PLEASE NOTE: You need to be signed into your or your child's gmail account. If not, you will not be able to upload the photo.

CoffeePond Picture Day Follow-up:

Picture packages are in and have been distributed by teachers.  Picture retake day will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 if you'd like to have your student's picture redone (or if they were absent on September 28).  Please send in your picture package with your student on that day if your student will be retaking their picture.  If you have any questions about ordering, reordering or just in general, please contact CoffeePond directly at 800-632-2323, extension 0 or email lifeguards@coffeepond.com.

Drop-off/Pick-up Instructions:

If you choose to drop-off and pick-up your student from BMS, please see this map for directions.  Please note that the last early dismissal of the day is at 2:45 pm.

Early Pick-Up Reminders:

Notes or emails to bmsattendance@barringtonschools.org are needed every time you need to dismiss your student prior to the end of school.  Middle School level students are not allowed to bike home, even with permission by note.  ID and a physical presence is required to dismiss your student early.  Please click here for full details about dismissing your student early from school.

PTO Corner:

Welcome to the new school year from the BMS PTO! We are excited for the new year and a return to many of the events and activities that have been missed over the past couple of years. Here are a few PTO updates to start off the year:

  • Join the PTO: Become a member of the BMS PTO for $20 through our BMS online store. Proceeds go directly to the school and PTO programs and membership is required to vote at PTO meetings.

  • Volunteers needed: We are in great need of volunteers for the board (President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary) and committees (Book Fair, Hospitality, Fundraising, One Amazing Night, Variety Show, 8th Grade Celebration). Please email barringtonmiddlepto@gmail.com if interested or with any questions with no pressure to commit.

  • Next PTO meeting is Tuesday, November 15, 2022 in Room 1202.  Please join us!
