These forms will be emailed on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 6:00 pm and completed by Monday, June 2, 2025, by 6:00 pm. Attention incoming 8th-grade families: Please make note of this date and this form, as there will be opportunities to sign up for courses (allied art courses and world language courses). These courses will be based on a first-come, first-served basis. I will discuss this more at our family information night planned for Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Math-Mindset Summer Camp: BPS is offering a summer program for current 4th through 8th graders. The engaging program consists of number talks, guided problem-based lessons around priority grade-level standards, and motivational activities. It aims to help correct students’ misconceptions while building confidence in mathematics, conceptual understanding, and a mathematical growth mindset. Please see the link below for more information and how to sign up for this exciting opportunity.
Support 8th-Grade Year-End Events: We can’t believe we are just about a month away from the end of the 2024 - 2025 school year. In BMS tradition, we have a fun-filled sendoff for our 8th-grade students.
Typically, 8th-grade families have donated supplies and time to help support these events. With that said, I would like to share the sign-up genius with our 6th and 7th-grade families as well. This could be a great opportunity to “pay it forward.”
Community Service Last Hurrah Toiletry Drive! Community Service Club is holding its last drive of the school year! We are working with a high school student who came back so we could help receive donations for their civil leadership project. This time, we are looking for toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, toilet paper, etc. Please, no floss. The last day to donate is May 14th! The grade with the most donations will receive a prize!
BMS Music Bingo: Join us on Friday, May 16 from 6-8 pm in the BMS cafeteria for BMS Music Bingo Night! Sponsored by our BMS Best Buddies group, BMS Music Bingo is a game that combines the classic bingo format with a musical twist! Instead of calling out numbers, a host plays music clips, and players try to identify the song and mark it off on their bingo card. The first player to complete a row, column, or diagonal is the winner and shouts "Bingo!". $5 entrance fee for unlimited games, prizes will be awarded! Snacks and drinks available for purchase. Proceeds to the BMS Unified Theatre program and BMS Best Buddies. Donations can be dropped off at the BMS Office from May 14-16. Spring Tennis: BMS Spring Tennis has started! There will be a new Sign-Up Genius each week and all abilities and grade levels may sign up for any day (Monday-Wednesday) but please limit your student's sign up to one day per week to give others a chance to participate. Please note that this week tennis will only be held on Tuesday (5/20) and Wednesday (5/21) because I will be helping with the dodgeball fundraiser after school on Monday (5/19). As a result, I added extra available slots for those two days. The Spring Tennis Program will last for five weeks and each week will focus on a different set of skills culminating in some games between classmates. There is no cost to participate! Again, there will be a new sign-up sheet in the Connected Newsletter each week so keep an eye out for that. Please reach out to Riley Spillane (spillaner@barringtonschools.org) with any questions.
