BMS Health Opt Out Letter/Information: Barrington Public Schools recently approved a new Sexual Health Education and Services Policy and a School Health Education Topics Notification and Opt-Out Protocol. The Sexual Health Education and Services Policy is part of a larger coordinated school health and wellness initiative in our district and reflects our commitment to providing a health curriculum that is both developmentally appropriate and age-appropriate. In accordance with this policy, the health education curriculum adopted by Barrington Public Schools will be developed by educators and reviewed with teachers, students, school nurses, administrators, parents, and Barrington community members. It will be medically-accurate, evidence-based, and bias-free, and in alignment with national and state health education standards. We understand that discussions about health education topics can be sensitive. The School Health Education Topics Notification and Opt-Out Protocol, in compliance with state laws, ensures you have access to the health education topics scheduled for your child’s class and the ability to choose whether or not to opt your child out of certain topics. Please see a link to the complete letter below: BMS Health Opt Out Letter to Families Note: We will also be sending this letter home as a standalone letter. |
