BMS Spotlight on Learning:

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our Blue Cluster Teachers. Last week Mr. Borgueta, Mrs. Carroll, Mr. Kearns, and Ms. Teoli shared with their students their independent reading project, as well as shown their own personal examples. Great work creating a culture of reading!

BMS New Information

Mrs. Melanie Roy’s Library Blog:

Please take a look at Mrs. Roy’s Library Blog. Mrs. Roy will be regularly updating her blog and making it available to faculty/staff, students, and families. Thank you for sharing Mrs. Roy!    www.mrsmelanieroy.com

Student Resource Officer Wyrostek News:

Drop-off and pick-up of students is prohibited on the side streets off of Lincoln Avenue (ie: Harrison, Peck, Brown or Standish Avenues).  It is a danger to students and drivers to have students crossing in the middle of Lincoln Avenue and these streets are not wide enough to accommodate parked vehicles.  Parking creates a safety hazard as Emergency Vehicles cannot safely access homes on those streets.

Morning Enrichment Classes (7:10 am-8:10 am):

Registration is now open. You may register online at www.myschoolbucks.com

Classes will run on Mondays (or a few Tuesdays) 10/28 - 12/16.

EagleFit - The EagleFit program will include, but is not limited to: dynamic warm up, muscular strength, and muscular endurance exercises. Functional fitness movements incorporating TRX, BOSU, medicine balls, dumbbells, resistance bands, and much more. Ms. Gower

Volleyball - skills, drills and games - Ms. Scanlon

3D Design and Print - explore 3D digital modeling and design as well as 3D printing - Mr. DiZio

Message from Student Rep on School Committee:

Dear Barrington Middle School Students,

The Barrington School Committee is the only committee in the district to have a student representative. Representing over 2,000 students, the student rep listens to all the different opinions, and advocates on behalf of all 2,000 students.

As your student representative, I would love to have all of you join me in an advisory committee to discuss the changes to the middle school. As the future leaders of Barrington, we must acknowledge that all of us have the power to influence and benefit our community. Called the “Student Advisory Committee to the Student Representative,” students will meet and broach a multitude of topics that they feel are necessary to their success in the Barrington Middle School environment. We will discuss what we love about the changes, what we dislike, and what the school committee could potentially improve on. This feedback will be crucial to the policies the School Committee creates in the future- policies that affect us all in return.

Additionally, if you have any questions pertaining to the application or school committee concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at kaonk20@barringtonschools.org

I am advocating on behalf of all of you, and your voices are vital to our collective success.

Best,

Kelly Kaon

(BHS Senior, Student Representative to the School Committee)

BMS Office Information:

The BMS Office is open daily from 8:00 am until 3:45 pm.  As always, students need a note from home given to the office before homeroom on days when they will be dismissed early.  We are very impressed by the number of students, especially 6th graders, that have followed our procedure and come to the office on their own to meet their parents for dismissal!  Well done!
