Welcome to the Barrington Public Schools Volunteer Program

The Barrington Public School District is fortunate to have the commitment of approximately 700 volunteers among six schools.  Volunteers are parents, grandparents, community members, senior citizens, and others.

What do school volunteers do?

School volunteers do a little bit of everything!

     ·         Tutor students in classrooms

·         Listen to children read

·         Help teachers with clerical work

·         Bind books of students’ writing

·         Organize math and science family nights

·         Monitor Mileage Club on the playground

·         Fundraise through PTO committees

·         Collate and prepare mailings

·         Organize enrichment programs

·         Support school nurses during vision and hearing screenings

·         Write and publish newsletters

·         Help organize Arts Night, One Amazing Night, Career Day

·         Assist teachers with class celebrations

·         Chaperone field trips

·         Help in school libraries

·         Run School Store

·         Serve on PTO committees

   

How do I become a volunteer?

·         Fill out an application form

·         Submit to a police background check

·         Participate in a 30 minute Volunteer Orientation
