Superintendent Search Committee February Update for the Community

The Superintendent Search Committee met for the first time on Monday, February 6 with an ambitious agenda.  Search Committee meetings that include candidate discussions and interviews are held in Executive Session to ensure confidentiality for all candidates.

All interviews with final candidates will be conducted by the School Committee and are open to the public, with a schedule to be posted when dates are confirmed later in the search process.

The timeline for the Search Committee is as follows:

• Week of February 6   The Search Committee conducted a review/screening of candidate applications.
• February 13   The Search Committee met to select candidates for interviews.
• Week of February 27   Interviews with selected candidates will be conducted by the Search Committee.
• February 29   The Search Committee will meet to make its decision upon candidates to forward to the School Committee for consideration.

On March 5, the School Committee will meet with the search consultant, Future Management Systems, Inc., to prepare for final interviews and visits to Barrington by the final candidates.

The March timeline is as follows:    

• Week of March 12  Final candidates will spend a day visiting Barrington and will have an opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, parents and community members.  A schedule will be posted with details about the candidate schedules.  The School Committee will then conduct public interviews with final candidates.
• Week of March 19   The School Committee will visit the current districts of the final candidates.
• Week of March 26   The School Committee will deliberate on the candidate of choice and negotiate a contract offer with the selected final candidate.
